Working With Crystals: Kyanite

Kyanite is a crystal I hold near and dear to my heart because of the wonders it has done for Bryan, and for myself as well.

Before it was known as Kyanite, however, it went through a list of names. What started as Disthene changed to Rhaeticide, then Cyanite and Kyanos, and then it finally found its present name. The power it is known for, however, never changed.

It is said to be the material used for Archangel Michael’s sword, most likely because it is known as the most powerful anti-negativity crystal. Kyanite is also believed to connect oneself to other realms and spirits.

The combination of these two abilities makes it a very common tool used in spiritual work, such as banishing rituals, dream recall and past life karmic clearing.

In this way Kyanite helps the mind to heal and sharpen, which leads to mental balance and clarity.

This crystal also deals in the balance and clarity of our emotions as well. Through it, Bryan and I were able to begin seeing what, in any present moment, was causing our negative emotions to surface. And not just the present trigger, but the original trigger. That is to say, we found ourselves able to pinpoint the first event in our lives that lead to certain thought patterns, which leads to said emotion.

I have seen personally how this has affected Bryan’s emotional stability, even more so than for myself. And it has been a beautiful progress to watch. If you know anyone to be a bit of a hothead, I highly recommend giving this crystal to them.

Because of Kyanite’s beautifully deep blue, this crystal is known to work on your throat chakra. (Or maybe it’s the other way around.) But it works in a completely different manner than most throat crystals.

It inspires kind and compassionate communication. This, in turn, also inspires blossoming friendships and strong, loyal connections. It can also bring social harmony wherever you are, whether at home or at work, or even out with friends.

Kyanite is a very powerful physical healer as well. It is a wound healer and promoter of tissue growth. It lowers blood pressure, reduces fevers, and relieves pain as well. In a way, it is Aya’s version of a Tylenol.

I have found it can be a personal companion given by Aya, hence its nickname Companion Stone. If you were given one at birth, or give it to someone upon their birth, it is said to protect said person from the moment of birth to the moment of death.

If you keep this stone as your lifelong companion, it is definitely wise to regularly cleanse and charge it. To cleanse Kyanite, it does well under running or tepid water. It also can be placed on a cluster of quartz, or under an herb or plant during the hour after dawn. My personal favorite method is placing it in a bowl made of natural material and covering it with a little water. This, I have found, is a great way to recharge the crystal as well.

On its own, Kyanite is amazing. It can be even more amazing, however, when paired with certain others.

If you are looking for a heavenly feel to the harmony Kyanite creates, the best pairing would be Blue Lace Agate.

For more inner world healing and balancing, Kyanite mixed with Sweet Chalcedony and Howlite can work wonders on the body, mind, and soul.

When I look at the big picture of what Kyanite is capable of, I see this crystal as a lifelong companion. And not just the quiet friend who just listens. No, this is the loud friend who cheers you on, makes you honest about yourself, and inspires you to do great things with your life.

All in all, Kyanite is, in my opinion, the Warrior of Harmony.
