The Balance of Life

You know how they say there’s always a silver lining? Well, there may be some merit to that.

In this lifetime, I have noticed that whenever something really bad happens, something really good tends to follow. It also happens vice versa, unfortunately, but I’ve learned to adapt to it.

This is because, to the extent of my knowledge, the universe seeks balance. And, if you look within yourself, you will find that you do as well.

Once again, we see an example of how our outer world reflects our inner world.

Now that we see this, we can use it to our advantage. For me, and for many others I am guessing, this is a call to find your life’s natural balance. To regulate the cycles that happen to you on a daily, monthly, and even yearly basis.

There are many ways to do this, but it all boils down to one thing in particular: awareness. Simply be aware of how your own cycles flow. See how quickly things go from good to bad, and from bad to good.

You can use any method you desire to accomplish this. For me, the most effective method is keeping a journal. In this journal, I write down whenever I am feeling especially down, and also when I am on the verge of manic happiness. (If you do this, be sure to write down the dates.)

It may take some time to figure out how your life balances itself, but once you do, you can start to take advantage.

How? You may ask. For me, it is simply a matter of preparation. When I get to the edge of my highest point, I start saving up and focusing on what needs to be done to continue moving forward. If I am lucky, I can find what unfortunate event is going to be the balancer.

I also do this with my emotional and mental cycles as well. When I am at my best, I do the most work. That way, I can be more forgiving of how little I do when I am at my lowest. It also helps to keep the house chores from piling up.

It can be especially difficult to do when the bad precedes the good. For me, it is a matter of pushing through the bad, doing what needs to be done. Then, once the issue is resolved, I realize that I learned something from it.

For example, just the other day I had an issue with our only bathroom’s door being locked from the inside. It took me taking apart the door knob to get the door open, and then I had to reassemble said door knob.

But hey! I learned how doorknobs work. Now I am better prepared if I run into another similar situation.

With these practices, you can bring balance to your life as well. And you will find the silver lining in everything.
